Zhao Hua Xi Shi Living Museum

Scanning from foreground to background through this architectural photograph, the composition presents a contemporary building complex nestled within a mature landscape setting. The immediate foreground contains a reflective pond occupying approximately the bottom fifth of the image, its still surface mirroring the clear blue sky above with cool, mirror-like smoothness. Emerging from the water's edge are lotus plants with round, pale green leaves the size of dinner plates, their surfaces suggesting waxy, water-repellent texture. Moving beyond the pond, a pathway of smooth gray and cream-colored river stones creates a permeable walking surface approximately eight feet wide, the individual stones appearing fist-sized and loosely arranged. Flanking this path, ornamental grasses rise in feathery plumes of sage green and golden wheat tones, their texture soft and yielding like dried meadow vegetation. A dry-stacked stone wall of thin slate pieces in charcoal and rust tones creates a gentle curve through the middle ground, the stones rough and layered like pages of ancient books. The architectural complex rises in the middle distance, dominated by a vertical tower on the left side approximately five stories tall, clad entirely in dark corrugated metal with the appearance of ridged industrial sheeting, cool charcoal gray suggesting weathered steel. This tower features an open observation platform at its summit with horizontal railings and a protective canopy. Connected lower structures extend rightward with stacked volumes at varying heights, their walls combining the same dark corrugated metal with large glass panels that reveal interior spaces furnished with comfortable seating in neutral tones. Warm amber wooden decking creates transition platforms between interior and exterior. Throughout the composition, mature deciduous trees with silvery-green foliage rise above and behind the structures, their forms soft and full suggesting summer growth. The sky above presents clear cerulean blue, bright and warm suggesting pleasant summer conditions with excellent visibility.

The project is a luxury resort located at the foot of the Great Wall of China. The design is unique in its location and function. The resort incorporates art exhibition, catering, leisure and office spaces. It is extremely rare to have a resort of this style located in such a famous and historically significant site. The cultural significance of the site is reflected in the architectural design of the wellness resort. The design captures traditional Chinese culture but with a sophisticated modern twist
