Spot On Interactive Light Installation

Scanning from exterior to interior through a large architectural window, this audio description guides listeners through an illuminated installation visible from street level. The outer boundary consists of a traditional window frame painted white, divided into twelve panes arranged in a three-by-four grid, set within a facade of rectangular white tiles arranged in horizontal courses that feel cool and smooth like glazed ceramic. Looking through the glass, the interior space glows with intense magenta and violet light, colors that feel warm like tropical sunset or the flush of exertion, saturating the visible chamber with theatrical luminosity. The lower portion of the window reveals the primary installation element: approximately twenty vertical tubes of light arranged in a row, each tube roughly six feet tall, their colors transitioning from deep violet on the left, like twilight shadows, through brilliant magenta and fuchsia, the temperature of ripe berries, to warm amber and pale cream on the right, suggesting candlelight or champagne. These tubes stand like luminous organ pipes or a chromatic fence, their vertical rhythm creating a sense of musical tempo made visible. Applied directly to the glass surface, golden yellow text appears in clean modern letterforms, the color warm like sunflower petals or egg yolk, providing the installation title and invitational messaging. A QR code in matching yellow occupies the right portion, its pixelated grid offering digital connection. The glass surface captures reflections of the building across the street, creating ghostly overlays of classical architectural details, cornices and window frames, that appear to float within the magenta glow like memories or double exposures. The surrounding white tiles feel pristine and cool, establishing a neutral frame that amplifies the chromatic intensity within, while the overall impression suggests stepping into a portal where light becomes tangible and color fills the air like perfume.

Empty shop windows are boring. Especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic empty shop windows became an even more urgent matter for the city of Linz. But in particular, in great locations throughout the city those, those spaces are also unused presentation areas that can be put to good use in the meantime. Therefore this unique shop window installation and the concept of "Spot On" behind it were developed. Interactive light installations turn empty windows into engaging and extraordinary art pieces, while also offering local businesses a valuable temporary stage. We. Love. Linz.
