Scenic Path Landscape Recovery

Listeners will construct a mental image of a curved pedestrian pathway winding through a hillside covered in dense green vegetation, photographed during evening twilight. Beginning with overall orientation, the image presents a square format landscape view captured from an elevated vantage point looking across and down toward a sloping terrain. The dominant visual element is a pale gray pathway with a finely textured aggregate surface that enters the composition from the lower left corner, curves gracefully rightward through the center, then sweeps left again before disappearing into misty distance near the top center of the frame. The pathway surface might feel underfoot like compressed gravel or fine crusite, cool and slightly rough with embedded reflective particles that catch light. In the lower left foreground, the pathway widens into a small gathering area with what appear to be concrete benches or retaining walls, their surfaces smooth and cool like polished stone. Moving rightward and deeper into the scene, the hillside rises and falls in gentle undulations, completely covered with shrubby vegetation that would feel springy and aromatic if touched, the leaves of Mediterranean plants holding essential oils that release herbal, resinous scents in warm air. The vegetation presents predominantly in deep green tones that carry the coolness of forest shade, though selective warm lighting illuminates patches on the right side of the composition with golden tones suggesting late afternoon sunshine or artificial landscape lighting, these illuminated areas feeling warmer and more inviting. In the upper right quadrant, a prominent rock outcropping emerges from the vegetation in warm ochre and cream tones, its surface weathered and textured like ancient limestone, rough and sun-warmed to imagined touch. The sky visible in the upper portion reads as deep blue-violet transitioning toward the darkness of approaching night, carrying the cool temperature of evening air. The overall atmosphere suggests peaceful twilight stillness, perhaps with gentle breezes carrying the subtle sounds of rustling leaves and distant evening birdsong across this thoughtfully recovered landscape.

The project, of which 800m are already complete, is set within a broader intervention for the city of Igualada that seeks to generate paths and cycle lanes in the form of a green belt around the edge of the city. This new green mobility crosses a very run-down site where gypsum used to be mined, a place later used as a waste transfer station, with problems of runoff damage and landslips. The proposal has two main objectives: connectivity, continuing the city-scale project, and landscape and biodiversity recovery, to generate a new dynamic that will gradually improve its environmental conditions.
